Christmas Bird Counts are coming up! Every year since 1900, people have gone out to count birds in specific locations, including about 20 places in Oklahoma. No need to be an expert…anyone can help and beginners will be placed with experienced birders. You will be welcome!
The Tulsa and Hulah Lake (near Bartlesville) counts are both on December 16, and the Tallgrass Prairie Preserve count is on December 30. Find a count near you by visiting the website below, or email us for help finding your local count! It is a fun outing, and you make a real contribution to science!
After the Hulah count this year (at 6 pm), the Sutton Center will host a dinner gathering with meat and veggie chilis provided. Please bring a side dish or dessert to share. We will compare our bird lists for the day to see if we can beat last year’s total! Contact Don Wolfe if you are interested in participating in the Hulah or Tallgrass Prairie counts, or contact Jeff Cox if you are interested in the Tulsa count.
